The Quark that was

Quark 2012 meant a lot of things to everybody. For some it meant a golden chance to participate in technical workshops, for some it was an opportunity to laze around in Bogmalo and for others it was time to pack up their bags and head back home.
Inaugration day kickstarted with the mime and dance performances.  The mime club presented a spectacular performance with humor, romance and dance all rolled into one power packed act. And as the screen read "That's all folks!" the whole audience stood up, applauding and cheering for the silent performers. The dance club did a very good job of dampening the effect of the mimers as they took the stage gyrating to a supposedly 'cool' and 'hep' number whilst dribbling basketballs. One was left wondering whether the dance club had actually confused Quark with Spree. All in all, Day 0 was like a delicious slice of chocolate cake that left a bitter aftertaste in everybody's mouths.
The Faridkot incident was a comedy of errors. The band defines it's genre of music as "Confused Pop". I say, that I could not begin to agree more. The lead singer seemed to be in a trance and one could see he was enjoying Goa a little too much. His off-key singing made me want to stab my ears with a rusty butter knife.  Fortunately for my ears,  the entire sound system (I must have been an angel in my past life) failed and the band walked off leaving the audience befuddled.
Tamer Nakisci, the Turkish Geek God and also the inventor of  Nokia 888 had Bitsians flocking to his guest lectures. He discussed about his futuristic designs and one could easily see that he was a man who transformed his dreams into reality. The whole LT sat captivated, which for a change comprised of a majority of girls, which was not a surprise owing to his exotic good looks.
The Indian magician from the Netherlands- Arvind Jayashankar managed to put up an overwhelming show. With his card tricks and mind games he had atheists and non-believers doubting their philosophies. And as he levitated a table as the Grand Finale, the lines between pure scientific logic and fantasy seemed blurred to many.
Music Night which was supposed to be an incredible end hit a series of unfortunate events after the no-show of Shantanu Moitra. The songs prepared by the Music Club were all his compositions and meant to be sung with him leaving the singers and the audience disappointed.
The 3D mapping and fireworks were an enthralling experience for the audience and was well worth the exorbitant amount it cost. The crowd cheered and bellowed as the entire B-Dome came shattering and crumbling down and the sky lit up with shimmering fireworks. It was a Finale befitting the phenomenon that was Quark 2012.
